Often these aphorisms refer to supply and demand.\u00a0Demand is dollar votes. There is a tradeoff between guns and butter.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on whom you believe, economics is either the queen of the social sciences or the dismal science. Or both, if you want to be philosophical about it too.<\/p>\n<p>By the numbers, college football is the second-most profitable franchise in sports. It beats out major-league baseball, basketball, hockey, and soccer.
